Sire: Fallen Ash Scouts Spellbound

Dam: Cay Lees Omegas Chiquita

This gorgeous little colt is the much anticipated latest edition to Oakleigh Miniatures. He is our first home bred foal using our own Multi International Champion Stallion Fallen Ash Scouts Spellbound.

He carries all the best features of both his sire and his dam. He is also an L&D Scout Grandson

Oakleigh Buckeroos Haute Couture is straight out of the Buckeroo designer room. He is a beautifully refined Buckskin Minimal Pinto 'OR IS HE?'

We are awaiting confirmation that this colt may be something quite special!!!! He has four white stockings and a black and white mane and tail. He has a beautiful dished head with the biggest dark doe eyes I have ever seen. He is elegant, upright and heading straight for the show ring.

Keep checking back for some exciting new photo's and we will let you know when his colour is confirmed. If he is what we think he is, we will be able to offer you an aray of 'very' exotic rare colours when this boy joins the rest of our stallions.

His sire is Fallen Ash bred and an L&D Scout son, his dam follows the line of Buckeroo through Buck Echo.

He has the typical Buckeroo look with a beautiful dished head, large eyes, long neck, superb conformation, natural action and that all important "Look At Me"! show ring attitude that Oakleigh Miniatures consistently strives for.

This colts name has been changed. He was previously advertised as Monsieur Buckeroo. We feel Haute Couture is a much more fitting name to honour the quality that the amazing stallion, 'Buckeroo', continues to pass down through the generations.

We use this name as a tribute to the great Buckeroo himself.

We now have it confirmed, he is something very special!!

From the day this colt was born we knew there was something different about him, we just were not sure what.

Now We Do!

At first sight we thought he was a normal Buckskin Pinto, boy were we wrong. We had a real suprise waiting for us when we clipped him for the first time. It all started when we discovered his jet black Dorsal stripe. We clipped his head and found extensive cobwebbing on his forehead and the most wonderful leg barring to all four legs and shoulder stripes either side of his withers.

It turns out that he is a rare Dunskin Pinto with extensive Primative Markings. A Dunskin is a horse that carries both the Cream Gene & the Dun Gene at the same time. The UK Animal Genetic Testing Centre have told us that he is the first horse ever to test positive as a Dunskin in the history of their business. It is believed he is the first and only one ever to be born in the Uk.

In our research into his genetic makeup, we turned up another 'big' suprise. When we purchased his Dam: Cay Lees Omegas Chiquita, we were under the impression that she was a Palomino. Through our investigations and genetic testing of both the Dam and foal, we have discovered that she is in fact a 'very rare' Dunalino (a Palomino Dun). This in turn means that her 2008 filly: Oakleigh Supremes Southern Belle may be an 'extreamly' rare Cremello Dun. We are now going to get her tested for Dun Zygosity as well. It is almost unheard of for a mare to pass on both Dun and the Cream Gene at the same time as it usually happens from one parent passing Cream and the other passing Dun.

The University Of California expressed an interest in their genetic makeup and have now taken their DNA for inclusion into a new reaseach project.

This discovery has put a whole new aspect into our breeding program. We will in the future be able to offer you an aray of the most fabulous exotic colours coupled with extreme arabian type and refinement.

As well as our stunning Silvers, Pinto's and Dilutes, these are a few of the exotic colour ways we can expect from the horses already in the breeding program at Oakleigh Miniatures.

All these colours will be possible in Pinto, Grullo and Solid.

This is the letter we received from Animal Genetics Uk

Dear Kathy,

We have finalised the DNA test results for Buckeroos Haute Couture, they are
follows:

Red Factor (foundation colour): Ee - Black, but positive for recessive red
gene.
Agouti: Aa - Heterozygous. Horse is positive for the Agouti Bay modifier
gene, black base foundation is modified to bay.

Cream Dilution: nCr - Positive, single dilute. The horse carries a copy of
the cream dilution gene, this modifies the Bay coat further, to the common
Buckskin colour.

If the horse carries the Dun gene (which can only be confirmed visually, and
not with DNA) - this horse is a Dunskin.

Dun Gene NOW CONFIRMED by the University Of Calafornia as Zeb having one copy of the Dun Gene, this will result in 50% of his foals being Dun!

Recap:

Black Base + Bay gene + Cream Gene  + Dun gene = Dunskin
(Ee) (Aa) (nCr)    (Dd)

We must assume given the parentage of the horse, that Buckeroos Haute
Couture is most likely Dun Heterozygous (Dd) meaning that 50% of foals will
receive Dun.

The horse has, well, a pretty large breeding potential, ALL of the following
colours are possible:

We can narrow this down, if you know the colour of the mate with which you
intend to cross Buckeroos Haute Couture. Please make use of our free coat
colour calculator, that will give you foal colour percentages depending upon
the mate you use. See: http://animalgenetics.us/CCalculator1.asp   Enter your
horse as a Buckskin Dun, and then plug in her DNA test results in order to
proceed.

Thanks again for sending the sample, and please feel free to contact me
should you have any further queries.

Best wishes

Dan
